A REPORT
The Bangalore Civil Area Council successfully organized a three-day Mission Festival themed “Come and See” (John 1:39), a grand celebration of Christian faith, fellowship, and cultural diversity. The event witnessed an overwhelming footfall of approximately 3,000 to 3,500 people, gathering together in unity to celebrate the love of Christ through worship, music, competitions, sermons and community activities.
Participation and Events
The Mission Festival featured a wide range of spiritual and cultural activities that drew enthusiastic participation from churches fellowships such as youth fellowships, women’s fellowship, elders' fellowship, Sunday School and Choir groups.
* A total of 70 teams participated across five different events, averaging about 15 participants per event.
* The events were designed to engage participants of all ages and backgrounds, fostering a spirit of teamwork, creativity, and faith.
* Competitions included group singing, skits, missionary biography and folk dance, all centered on the theme of Christian unity and mission.
Spiritual Enrichment
A major highlight of the festival was the series of sermons and worship sessions conducted throughout the three days. The inaugural sermon by the Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar pressed upon the aspect of Mission not as a project but passion embedded in Christ’s love for the world to proclaim justice and equality. Further, pastors delivered powerful messages in English, Kannada, Tamil, and Malayalam, making the Gospel accessible to all linguistic groups within the community.
Additionally, songs of praise and worship were sung in six different languages, symbolizing the diversity and inclusiveness of the Christian faith. The multilingual and Carnatic worship sessions created a deeply moving atmosphere of unity and spiritual renewal.
Entertainment and Fellowship
In addition to the spiritual programs, the festival offered a variety of entertainment and fellowship opportunities:
* An Amusement Park was set up, providing fun rides and attractions for both children and adults.
* A food court featuring sumptuous varieties of meals, snacks, and beverages served as a major attraction, allowing families and friends to enjoy delicious food in a festive setting.
* Stalls and community exhibits showcased the work of various church ministries and organizations, further strengthening the sense of shared mission and service.
Conclusion
The Mission Festival organized by the Bangalore Civil Area Council was a resounding success, uniting thousands of believers under one roof to celebrate faith, culture, and fellowship. It not only provided a platform for spiritual growth but also encouraged community bonding and cross-cultural understanding.
The Council extends heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, sponsors, and visitors who contributed to making this event a memorable and spiritually enriching experience. With God’s grace, and with the support of Bishop, Officers, Pastors, Heads of Institutions, Pastorate Committee Members and congregation, this festival will continue to inspire and strengthen the fellowship among the churches in Civil Area and Diocese at large for mission work of the community in the years to come.
