Installation of the New Principal of Bishop Cotton Girls' School

The Installation Service of Mrs. Christy Priyadharsini F as Principal of Bishop Cotton Girls’ School was held on 27th October in the School Auditorium. This solemn and memorable occasion was presided over by Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinodkumar, Bishop of the Karnataka Central Diocese, led by Rev. Christopher Samuel, Secretary, KCD, and assisted Rev. Theodore Williams, Assistant Secretary, KCD.

The service began with a Call to Worship, followed by the School Song, sung with reverence by the choir and congregation. Rev. Theodore Williams led the Opening Prayer, after which the hymn “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” was rendered with heartfelt devotion. Readings from the Holy Scriptures set the spiritual tone for the morning, preparing the assembly for a meaningful service of dedication.

In his inspirational sermon, Rt. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinodkumar congratulated Mrs. Christy Priyadharsini F on her appointment and reflected upon the 160-year legacy of Bishop Cotton Girls’ School — a legacy of faith, discipline, and excellence. He reminded the gathering that the installation was not merely a change in leadership but a divine calling to serve with humility, wisdom, and grace. Drawing from the wisdom of King Solomon and the words of the Psalmist, the Bishop emphasized that true leadership is one of service and stewardship, rooted in reverence for God. He concluded with the school’s enduring motto, “Nec Dextrorsum Nec Sinistrorsum” — “Neither to the right nor to the left” — urging all to walk steadfastly in the path of righteousness.

Following this, the Diocesan Secretary presented Mrs. Christy Priyadharsini F as the Principal appointed by the Executive Committee, based on the recommendation of the Selection Committee. The Bishop formally installed Mrs. Christy Priyadharsini F
as the Principal through a symbolic act of dedication and prayer led by the Bishop.

Mr. Abraham Ebenezer, on behalf of the Diocesan Education Committee, extended warm greetings to the dignitaries, staff, students, and guests. He expressed gratitude to the Bishop, Officers of the Diocese, and the Committees for their efficiency and transparency in the selection process, commending their vision and dynamism. In his address, he congratulated Mrs. Priyadarshini on her appointment and lauded her twenty-three years of dedicated service to the institution in various capacities — as Vice-Principal, Head of Environmental Science, Head of Biology, and Editorial Head. Describing her as “a leader who listens, a teacher who inspires, and a human being who leads with heart,” he emphasized that a true Principal is the heartbeat of a school, harmonizing tradition and innovation while nurturing character and curiosity. He affirmed that Mrs. Priyadarshini embodies these ideals through her inclusive leadership and steadfast commitment to the school’s motto.

On behalf of the students, the School Captain warmly welcomed the new Principal, expressing admiration for her leadership and commitment to excellence, and assuring her of the students’ wholehearted support. Speaking on behalf of the staff, Mrs. Sunita Paul, Vice-Principal, extended heartfelt felicitations and pledged the continued cooperation of the teaching community in upholding the school’s values and striving for greater heights under her guidance.

In her response, Mrs. Christy Priyadharsini expressed her gratitude to the Bishop and the Diocese for their trust, and to the school community for their warmth and encouragement. She reaffirmed her commitment to lead with faith, integrity, and purpose, ensuring that Bishop Cotton Girls’ School continues to be a beacon of excellence and Christian values.
