Distribution of the Diocesan Higher Education Scholarships for the students of Tumkur and KGF
After a gap of five years, the Karnataka Central Diocese under the leadership and guidance of the Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. P. K. Samuel and with the support of the Diocesan Officers invited applications for Diocesan Higher Education Scholarship from youth pursuing various higher educational courses after their 10th Standard studies. Around 453 applications were received from the CSI Churches in Tumkur and K.G.F. Area.
The disbursement of the Scholarships was organized on Saturday 21st May 2022 at 10:30 a.m. in St. John’s School Auditorium, Bangalore. Around 600 youngsters and the members of their family participated in the special program.
The Ministerial Committee Convener Rev. Christy Gnanadasan commenced the program with prayer. St. John’s School Principal Mrs. ShanthaSusheela welcomed the gathering. The Education Committee Convener Dr. Lavanya Mithran highlighted the significance of higher education in today’s post-Covid world.
The Diocesan Treasurer Dr. N. D. Solomon Raju in his greetings expressed his happiness over the enthusiastic young people pursuing higher education and pointed the purpose of this scholarship is to attract young people to pursue their Postgraduate programme in any area of specialization in any institution of higher learning in the country. He announced that the Diocese this year is awarding Rs. 4000/- to all recipients pursuing Job Oriented Courses, Rs. 5000/- to PUC students, Rs. 8000/- to Degree students, Rs. 15000/- to Post Graduate students and Rs. 20000/- to all Professional and Merit Students.
The Higher Education Scholarship Committee Member Rev. H. Naveen Kumar read Proverbs 3: 1 – 6. The Vice President Rev. Dr. Dexter S. Maben stressing the importance of higher education exhorted the youth to acquire knowledge and pursue wisdom. He encouraged them to aim high and achieve excellence. The Diocesan Associate Treasurer Rev. E. George Jayaprabhu congratulated the young people and explained the arrangements made to disburse the Diocesan Education Scholarships.
The Diocesan Secretary Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar celebrating the success of the student friends in their academic carrier, congratulated all recipients of our Diocesan Higher Education Scholarship.On behalf of each recipient and the members of their family, he thanked Bishop, Diocesan Officers and the Chairman, Convener and Members of the Education Committee for their initiative to award the scholarships after a span of 5 years. He also thanked the Principal, Vice Chairman, Treasurer and Members of the Board of Management of St. John’s School for hosting the event. He appealed to the recipients to be grateful to their parents, teachers and especially their local church and the Diocese for the role they are playing in their life to encourage them in their advanced studies and asked them to reciprocate the love and support they have received in most appropriate way.
The program came to end with prayer led by KGF Area Chairman Rev. Robin Marshall and Benediction by the Vice President Rev. Dr. Dexter S. Maben. With the help of the Diocesan Office staff an amount of Rs. 41,83,000/- was distributed to all who had applied for the higher education scholarship.
