Diocesan Colloquium

To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of CSI and Golden Jubilee of KCD, a DIOCESAN COLLOQUIUM was held in the Bishop Cotton Boys' School Auditorium on the 17th of September, 2022 from 9.30 AM to 4 pm. Pastors, office bearers of churches, Diocesan council members, heads of institutions, hostel wardens and office bearers of the KCD Women's fellowship participated in the deliberations, centered around the theme, 'ENVISIONING AN OPEN CHURCH IN AN OPEN WORLD.'

The meeting began with a time of singing, led by the Bishop Cotton Boys' School choir. Rev Dr Vincent Vinod Kumar, Diocesan Secretary, welcomed the delegates. Dr. Solomon Raju, Diocesan Treasurer, and Prof. Esther Prasana, President - CSI Women's Fellowship, greeted the gathering.

This was followed by the Presidential Address by Rt. Rev. Dr. P K Samuel, Bishop in KCD. A celebratory video chronicling the fifty years of KCD was released by the Bishop. Rev Dr Chandra S Soans, Senior Pastor, Grace-Trinity United Church of Christ, USA, delivered the Key Note address.

The first panel discussion was moderated by Rev Dr Dexter Maben, the Vice President. The panelists  viz., Rev Dr Y T Vinayaraj, Rev Dr Allan Palanna and Rev Dr Sham P Thomas, spoke about the Open Church's theology, worship and mission, respectively.

The Golden Jubilee Souvenir and the theme song were released by the Bishop. This was followed by the second panel discussion, moderated by Rev George Jayaprabhu, the Associate Treasurer. The panelists viz., Dr Amitha Santiago, Dr Elizabeth Thomas and Dr Roy Abraham, spoke about the Open Church as offering spaces for learning, empowerment and healing, respectively.

Rev Christopher Samuel, the Assistant Secretary and Convener of the CSI Platinum Jubilee and KCD Golden Jubilee, proposed the vote of thanks. The Colloquium concluded with prayer and benediction by the Bishop.
