Diocesan Christmas – 2019

The Diocesan Family Christmas get-together was organized on Saturday, 7th December 2019 at Bishop Cotton Girl’s School. The Rt. Rev. Dr. Prasanna Kumar Samuel, Bishop, CSI – KCD; Prof. Esther Prasanna Kumar, Bishop Amma & President of CSI Women’s Fellowship; Diocesan Officers, Four Area Chairmen, Executive Committee Members, Conveners of the Standing Committees, Presbyters and Deacons, Heads of Institution, Diocesan Office Staff, Wardens and Child Care Workers, Evangelists, Retired Presbyters, Retired Diocesan workers, Bishop House Staff and their families participated in the get-together.

The program began with celebratory breakfast. For children below 15 years, the Ministerial Committee had organized a special Christmas program of praise and worship, story time and lots of games with attractive prizes at Bishop Cotton Girl’s School Kindergarten Auditorium. For others Christmas program was organized in the School Auditorium.

The program at the School Auditorium began with singing praises led by Bishop Cotton Boy’s School Music Team. The opening prayer was led by the Vice President Rev. Dr. Solomon Thomas. Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar, Ministerial Committee Convener welcomed the gathering. A special word of welcome was accorded to all the deputed Presbyters from other Dioceses, newly install Principals of Schools and Colleges and newly appointed Wardens. This was followed by Bible reading by Mr. Franklyn James, Treasurer.

Rt. Rev. Dr. Prasanna Kumar Samuel delivered the Christmas message on the theme: Christmas: Grace upon Grace. From the events around the birth of Christ, Bishop very beautiful brought how radical Savior who came in the form of a human person and how through radical actions, behavior and the gospel bestows grace and grace. He reminded that ‘grace’ implies that God has chosen us and to be with us to usher in transformation and change.

Recognizing the services of Senior Presbyters who laid down their office during the year 2019 after completing several decades of Pastoral Ministry in the Diocese, Bishop and the Officers of the Diocese honored Rev. David Rajan, Rev. I. J. W. Ambler and Rev. M. M. George. The services of the retired Presbyters in various Pastorates and the contributions they made to the Diocese in various capacities were read. The retired Presbyters were wished continued fruitful ministry and a peaceful retired life.

During this special occasion, Miss Lilly Selvanayagam, Evangelist who served the Diocese in K.G. F. Area and had retired during the year 2019, was also honored by our Bishop and the Diocesan Officers. The retired Evangelist was wished a peaceful retired life.

As part of Cultural programs, the Praise & Worship Team of the Bishop Cotton Boy’s School led the congregation in Christmas Medley. Miss. Sishu S.Beriyth, daughter of Rev. Silvan Chandra Kumar, enthralled the audience through her Kathak Dance Performance on the theme “Yahova Na Mora.” This was followed by a presentation of Christmas Lyric by the Presbyters of Bangalore City Area and a group dance by Makala Ashraya Kendra Children.

The Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College Students presented three special programs namely: Choir Trio – My Favorite Time of Year, Frolic Lassie – Special Christmas Medley Dance and Flash Mob – Christmas Hip Hop Dance.

Rev. Dr. Vincent Vinod Kumar proposed Vote of Thanks and made announcements regarding the Christmas fellowship lunch and distribution of Christmas gifts and cake.
As last cultural program, Makala Ashraya Kendra Children performed the Tableau of the Manger in Bethlehem through a special dance performance. And the congregation with gratitude sang the Hymn “Joy to the World” which was followed by Prayer and Benediction by Rt. Rev. Dr. P. K. Samuel, Bishop
