Bishop Cotton Women's Christian College - Inauguration of III Floor

It was a special day at Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian College as the dream turned to reality with the inauguration and dedication of the third floor of the college building on the Commemoration of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Karnataka Central Diocese which was held on Thursday 16th September, 2021. Rt. Rev. Dr.P.K.Samuel, Bishop, Karnataka Central Diocese and Chairman, Board of Management was the Chief Guest.

The programme began by unfurling the college flag by Rev. Paul Dhanasegar, Secretary, KCD who gave a salutation on behalf of the KCD. The inaugural prayer was led by Mrs. Sujaya, Secretary to the Principal.

The magical journey of the inaugural programme began with the inauguration of the Fountain Rock Garden, BESCOM Meter, M.Sc. Home Science Lab, Badminton Court, Lift and the Third Floor Block.

The Members of Board of Management, Members of Education Committee, Heads of the Institutions and Staff were present.

It was the vision of Prof. Esther Prasanakumar to take the college to greater heights by provoding infrastructure facilities and enhancing academic growth introducing new post graduate courses.

To provide better facilities and infrastructure for the staff and students, the third floor building was constructed which was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Dr. Prasanakumar Samuel, Bishop, KCD.

  • Mrs. Sheba Reuben, Member of Board of Management, Dr. A. Ebenezer, Convenor, Education Committee, Mrs. Stella Samuel, Former Principal, Bishop Cotton Girls’ High School, Prof. Hepzibah Doss, former Principal of BCWCC, Mr. Edwin Christopher, Principal, Bishop Cotton Boys School and Dr. Lavanya Mithran, Principal, Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, inaugurated the classrooms and washrooms respectively. Mrs. Christy Glory Shanthi, Principal of Cathedral Comp. Jr. College & High school and Mr. Victor Daniel, Former Treasurer, Board of Management inaugurated the staff rooms. 

The programme began with an opening prayer by Rev. Alfred Sudarshan, City Area Chairman and Vice Chairman, BOM and the opening hymn was rendered by the college choir. Mrs. Suvina Benjamin, read the Bible for the special occasion was derived from the book of Jeremiah 29: 11-14.

Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Prasanakumar Samuel, Principal Prof. Esther Prasanakumar, Mr. T Jayachandran , former Principals of BCWCC, Dr. Elizabeth Thomas and Prof. Hepzibah Doss lighted the lamp.

Mr. Jayachandran T. Treasurer, Board of Management, read the report of the third floor and the challenges faced while constructing the building. He stressed upon the developments of the infrastructure and the academic improvements under the able guidance of the Principal.

Addressing the gathering, Bishop, Rt. Rev. Dr. Prasanakumar Samuel said that “a plan always has a purpose, life span and a specific task. Bishop spoke about the history of BCWCC which witnessed many sacrifices to arrive where it stands today. He encouraged young students by quoting the Bible verse-Proverbs 16:9 to “commit their plans to God and His purpose will prevail despite the pain you face as you are the chosen vessel in the hands of God”

Former Principals of the college, Dr. Elizabeth S. Thomas and Prof. Hepzibah Dass recalled their nostalgic memories of the college.

Bishop felicitated the Engineer, Contractor and other personnel involved in the construction work of the building. Bishop thanked the sponsors – Bishop Cotton Girls’ School, Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, Cathedral High School, St. Johns High school and Mr. Rajendra Prasad Jain for their generous support.

The College choir rendered melodious hymns and special numbers. Students performed colourful Inaugural dance. Mrs. Mercy Priyalatha, Principal-in-charge, PUC, proposed the vote of thanks.

The programme concluded with the prayer and benediction by the Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr.Prasanakumar Samuel.

The memorable programme ended with the fellowship lunch which was organized to cherish the day.
